Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential open-source software organization seeking a Contract Software Engineer to focus on internal tooling for web compatibility workflows. In this role, you will:
- Build and enhance internal dashboards for triage, reporting, and metrics tracking
- Improve screenshot capture pipelines for broken-site reporting systems
- Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to translate operational needs into reliable, data-driven tooling
- Develop automation solutions that accelerate compatibility issue prioritization
What we're looking for
Our client needs a self-directed engineer with strong web development fundamentals and a practical approach to building internal tools. Required skills include:
- Solid experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, and Django
- Proven track record building dashboards and data visualization interfaces
- Comfort with tooling, automation frameworks, and web services
- Strong written communication and ability to work independently
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with web compatibility workflows and issue tracking systems like Bugzilla
- Experience building screenshot or browser automation pipelines
- Background working with machine learning applications
This is a remote contract position suitable for engineers who enjoy making teams more efficient through focused tooling work.
