Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS + CDK)

Responsibilities

We are representing a Berlin-based SaaS organization in search of a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and scale their AWS infrastructure. In this role, you will streamline deployments and ensure high availability and security across production systems. You'll partner closely with engineering teams to make software delivery fast, reliable, and cost-efficient using AWS and the AWS CDK.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Designing, maintaining, and improving AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK (TypeScript/Python)
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or similar tools
• Automating deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and operational workflows
• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance with AWS-native tools such as CloudWatch and X-Ray
• Implementing logging, alerting, and observability best practices
• Managing networking, security groups, IAM roles, and secrets securely
• Driving cost optimization strategies across AWS environments
• Collaborating with developers to improve development-to-production workflows
• Participating in on-call rotation and incident resolution

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a senior-level engineer with deep AWS expertise and a track record of scaling cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings:

• 5+ years in a DevOps, SRE, or similar role
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and CloudFront
• Proven experience with AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CodeBuild, or CodePipeline
• Good scripting skills in TypeScript, Python, or Bash
• Solid knowledge of Docker and container orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes)
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and AWS best practices
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana

Nice to Have:

• Experience with AWS cost optimization and tagging strategies
• Knowledge of serverless architectures including Lambda, Step Functions, and EventBridge
• Familiarity with compliance requirements such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or GDPR
