(Junior) Data & Automation Manager – Energy Operations (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing clean energy technology company in Berlin that is transforming how residential buildings manage energy infrastructure. Our client operates at the intersection of renewable energy, smart metering, and regulatory compliance in the German market.

They are seeking a (Junior) Data & Automation Manager - Energy Operations to take ownership of a business-critical function: ensuring energy data quality and building intelligent automation systems that scale their operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large energy datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and recurring error sources, turning individual cases into systematic insights
• Build and deploy AI agents that autonomously diagnose data quality issues and propose or implement solutions
• Ensure monthly energy data is billing-ready by resolving gaps, inconsistencies, and delays from complex market partner interfaces
• Serve as the central point of contact for all data-related matters internally (project and billing teams) and externally (grid operators and market partners)
• Drive product development for internal metering operations software by identifying gaps from daily operations and specifying requirements
• Establish structure and documentation where institutional knowledge currently exists only in individual team members' expertise
• Train and mentor interns and working students, building capacity as the function scales
• Manage prioritization, deadlines, and escalations across a regulated, deadline-driven environment

What We're Looking For

• Initial experience in top-tier consulting (Tier 1/Tier 2), high-growth startups (ideally operations or process optimization), or project management
• Completed degree in a relevant field
• Experience with or strong interest in data analysis, automation, and AI/LLM agents (e.g., Python, APIs, handling large datasets)
• Excellent numerical and data comprehension; enjoyment in systematically solving data quality problems
• Interest in depth over breadth—you find it rewarding to truly master a complex, heavily regulated domain rather than optimize at surface level
• Structured, conscientious work approach; you don't settle for "task completed" but verify results are substantively correct
• Ownership mentality—you take responsibility for an entire domain, not just execute tasks
• Not seeking a 9-to-5 role; you want responsibility in a fast-paced, founder-led environment where you build systems and actively shape growth
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate (office is their home base)
• Fluent in German and English
• Prior energy sector knowledge is a plus but not required—curiosity and learning speed matter more
