About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential fintech organization based in Berlin that is building a sophisticated data platform to power business intelligence, analytics, and AI-driven decision-making. Our talent team is seeking a Data Engineer with 2–4 years of production experience to help scale their data infrastructure from ingestion through to the warehouse layer.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data pipelines from ingestion through to storage
- Take end-to-end ownership of pipeline components
- Model data using data lake and warehouse concepts, and contribute to performance improvements including partitioning, file formats, and tuning
- Apply data governance and security practices in your work, including least-privilege IAM, encryption, and PII handling
- Support the team with data quality, coding consistency, and data availability
- Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into working data solutions
- Identify, formulate, and propose improvements to your own and your team's practices
What We're Looking For
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines in production
- Strong Python and advanced SQL skills
- Basic Scala experience, or a willingness to pick it up; if not, excellent domain of Java or C#
- Familiarity with DBT, including models, tests, and documentation
- Solid working knowledge of AWS
- Experience with relational databases and data warehouses
- Confident in Git, CI/CD, and modern deployment practices
- Practical experience with Docker
- Solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail, and open to feedback and mentorship
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Apache Spark or a similar distributed processing framework
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes
- Bash scripting
- Flyway or similar SQL migration tools
