Alliances Field Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open source technology organization in their search for an Alliances Field Engineer. This is a fully remote position open to candidates worldwide.

Our client is a globally distributed company working with leading public cloud providers, hardware manufacturers, system integrators, and independent software vendors. The Alliances Field Engineer will serve as a technical bridge between our client and their major technology partners, helping these organizations adopt and integrate open source solutions into their own offerings.

This role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong business acumen. You'll work with partners to architect solutions, create reference architectures, conduct technical validations, and lead onboarding workshops. Travel up to 30% is expected for partner meetings and team gatherings.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect cloud infrastructure solutions including Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark for on-premises and public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Support partner adoption of open source technologies and help integrate solutions such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX
• Collaborate with hardware manufacturers, global system integrators, independent software vendors, and public cloud partners to develop joint go-to-market programs
• Design and publish joint reference architectures and perform technical validations with partners
• Prepare and deliver onboarding sessions and workshops to promote adoption of our client's products
• Provide expert technical guidance on Linux, networking, and services in real-world enterprise environments
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to partners, answering complex questions about the full technology stack

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation
• Proven experience designing and implementing solutions on public or private cloud platforms
• Strong Python and bash skills with excellent troubleshooting abilities
• Fluent written and spoken English with excellent communication and presentation skills
• High motivation with ability to multi-task and follow through on commitments reliably
• Interest in customer-facing engagement including technical pitches and demonstrations
• Curiosity about emerging technologies in containerization and cloud-native development
• Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent technical field experience
