Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization in their search for a Senior Applied Researcher based in London. This role sits at the intersection of advanced machine learning and physical AI, working on production systems that solve complex engineering and physics challenges for industrial applications.

You'll take end-to-end ownership of machine learning problems—from problem framing and experimentation through deployment and ongoing production support. This is a high-impact position for someone with strong technical foundations and a generalist mindset who can translate advanced ML methods into production-ready solutions that operate reliably in customer environments.

Responsibilities

• Own complex machine learning problems across the Physical AI space from conception through production deployment
• Work closely with engineering, product, and client-facing teams to deliver production-ready ML solutions
• Deploy and support ML systems in cloud-based production environments
• Conduct rigorous experimentation, statistical modeling, and evaluation of machine learning approaches
• Surface risks, limitations, and technical trade-offs to stakeholders across functions
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to diverse audiences including non-technical stakeholders
• Work with time-series, high-dimensional, and real-world datasets that may be sparse, noisy, or imperfect
• Build reusable, high-quality systems that can be trusted in operational customer environments

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI with demonstrated delivery of high-impact production ML systems
• Strong software engineering skills in Python with extensive experience using NumPy, pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
• Proven experience deploying and supporting ML systems in production, including cloud-based environments
• Strong grounding in statistical modeling, machine learning experimentation, and evaluation methodologies
• Experience working with time-series, high-dimensional, or imperfect real-world datasets
• Track record of technical curiosity and staying current with ML and AI research
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams

Preferred qualifications:

• Background in engineering, physics, chemistry, or another STEM discipline connected to complex physical systems
• Experience with anomaly detection, optimization, reliability-focused modeling, or related approaches in industrial settings
• Experience building or experimenting with agents or autonomous systems
• Familiarity with MLOps, model monitoring, and efficient compute practices
• Experience with sparse, noisy, or imperfect real-world data from labs, heavy industry, or applied environments
• Track record of collaborating with deployed or client-facing teams to bring advanced methods into operational use
