About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI research organization seeking Fellows for a 4-month program focused on AI safety and security research. This is a paid fellowship with direct mentorship, compute funding, and the goal of producing public research outputs. We are recruiting for the January cohort based in London.

Fellows will work on empirical projects using external infrastructure (open-source models, public APIs) with the aim of producing papers or other public contributions. Previous cohorts have seen over 80% of participants produce research papers, and 25-50% have received full-time offers from the client organization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 4 months of full-time research on AI safety or security topics
• Work collaboratively with assigned mentors on empirical projects
• Produce a public research output such as a paper submission
• Implement ideas quickly using Python and deep learning frameworks
• Communicate research findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in a shared workspace environment (London or remote within UK)
• Contribute to research areas such as scalable oversight, adversarial robustness, model interpretability, AI welfare, or security-adjacent topics

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Fluency in Python programming
• Strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics
• Availability to work full-time for 4 months (40 hours/week)
• Work authorization in the UK (visa sponsorship not available)
• Motivation to ensure AI systems are safe and beneficial for society

Preferred qualifications for AI Safety track:

• Experience with empirical machine learning research projects
• Experience working with large language models
• Background in relevant research areas (scalable oversight, interpretability, adversarial robustness)
• Track record of open-source contributions

Preferred qualifications for AI Security track:

• Experience with pentesting, vulnerability research, or offensive security work
• Contributions to open-source projects in LLM or security repositories
• Experience with deep learning frameworks and experiment management
• CVE reports or bug bounty awards
• Demonstrated ability to bring clarity to ambiguous technical problems

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £2,310 per week for 4 months (16 weeks), with an expectation of 40 hours per week. The program also includes approximately $15,000 monthly in compute funding and coverage of other research expenses. Benefits vary and will be discussed during the interview process.
