Founding Engineer – Deeper Engagement

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential wellbeing technology company experiencing exceptional growth across European markets. Our client is transitioning from e-commerce into a sophisticated technology platform that connects wearable data, behavioral signals, and personalized engagement systems at scale. They are seeking a Founding Engineer to lead the technical architecture for their Deeper Engagement team.

This is a rare 0-to-1 opportunity with direct collaboration alongside senior technical leadership. You will own critical infrastructure decisions that shape product direction for years to come. The role is based in their London office.

Responsibilities

• Define and build the technical architecture for the Deeper Engagement team from the ground up
• Own wearable data integrations, backend APIs, and the mobile experience end-to-end
• Make foundational infrastructure decisions including stack selection, data modeling, and system design that will influence the platform long-term
• Partner with product teams and technical leadership to translate engagement vision into production systems
• Establish engineering standards for how the team builds, ships, and iterates as it scales
• Drive continuous improvement of personalized engagement systems

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven 0-to-1 experience building meaningful products from scratch
• Strong Python backend engineering expertise
• React Native or equivalent mobile development experience
• High ownership mentality—you see problems through to complete resolution
• Comfort working with ambiguity and translating vision into technical implementation

Preferred:

• Experience integrating wearable or health data from devices like Oura, Whoop, or Garmin
• Background in consumer health, fitness technology, or habit-forming mobile products
• Experience building personalization systems based on biometric or behavioral data
