Senior Engineering Manager, Brand Ads and Promotions

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential food delivery technology organization seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their Brand Ads and Promotions engineering function in London. This is a hybrid role requiring approximately three days per week in the office.

In this position, you will:

• Build, hire, and grow high-performing engineering teams focused on advertising technology and promotional systems
• Lead multiple teams and managers across the EMEA region, serving as a single-threaded leader for the ads organization
• Drive engineering vision, strategy, and execution for distributed backend systems and front-end advertising products
• Integrate AI solutions to improve team productivity, workflows, and application capabilities
• Develop scalable products that enable self-serve and programmatic advertising from onboarding through campaign management and measurement
• Plan long-term technical strategy and break down complex systems into sustainable, iterable components
• Collaborate with stakeholders, external partners, and peer leaders across a global three-sided marketplace
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term strategic objectives while maintaining engineering excellence
• Dive into technical details when needed to support teams and resolve complex challenges
• Ensure reliability and quality across all team deliverables

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Extensive experience in software engineering with large-scale distributed systems
• Proven track record building teams from zero to one and managing through senior leaders and managers
• Experience growing and scaling substantial engineering organizations
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills with ability to operate in fast-moving environments
• Strong performance management, coaching, and mentoring capabilities
• Hands-on approach to addressing infrastructure gaps and technical execution challenges
• Customer-focused mindset with global perspective across multiple stakeholder groups
• Adaptability and resilience in ambiguous, fast-paced situations
• Growth mindset with focus on driving projects to achieve business objectives
• Openness to feedback and willingness to contribute where needed

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience building ad-tech products and platforms
