About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading quantitative trading firm seeking a Machine Learning Researcher to join their London office. Our client operates at the cutting edge of applied ML in financial markets, deploying deep learning models at scale with state-of-the-art infrastructure including tens of thousands of high-end GPUs.

This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle challenging ML problems in a highly competitive, multi-agent environment with large-scale models and non-stationary data. You'll work closely with engineers and domain experts in a collaborative environment where research directly impacts production trading systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and train deep learning models that power quantitative trading strategies
• Conduct research into novel ML techniques suitable for financial market applications
• Analyse market data and model behaviour to drive continuous improvement
• Optimize distributed training performance and hyperparameter tuning at scale
• Monitor and improve model performance in production environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers and traders
• Participate in hiring and mentoring team members
• Share knowledge through internal teaching and external conference participation

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated practical experience working on empirical machine learning problems
• Strong logical and mathematical reasoning abilities
• Deep intellectual curiosity about state-of-the-art ML research across multiple domains (LLMs, computer vision, RL, recommendation systems, classical ML)
• Fluency with diverse model architectures and ML techniques
• Excellent hands-on coding skills in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
• Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on research ideas
• Collaborative mindset with willingness to ask questions, learn continuously and admit mistakes
• Fluency in English
• No prior finance experience required—intellectual curiosity and problem-solving passion are what matter
