Market Data Specialist, Metadata

About This Role

We are representing a confidential trading firm seeking a Market Data Specialist to join their Metadata team in London. This position focuses on managing and improving internal security master and corporate action management systems, ensuring data quality and reliability for trading operations.

You'll work closely with software engineers, traders, and operations teams to maintain the golden copy of financial instrument data that powers critical business functions.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve data quality and reliability issues across security master databases
• Interface directly with exchanges and data vendors to raise, track, and resolve data discrepancies
• Configure internal tools and systems to improve data accuracy and implement overrides when necessary
• Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance activities
• Support internal clients by troubleshooting metadata-related issues
• Advise on monitoring improvements and system configuration changes
• Help stakeholders better understand and utilise financial instrument metadata

What We're Looking For

• Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities with systematic problem-solving approach
• Experience with financial instrument metadata, particularly reference data
• Programming experience in any language plus working knowledge of SQL or other database query languages
• Confidence working in Linux/Unix command-line environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
• Operations, support, or customer-facing experience is a plus
• Fluency in English required
