Network Security Engineer

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Network Security Engineer in London. In this role, you will help run, scale, and continuously improve network security infrastructure through hands-on operations, design, and implementation.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Working closely with Network Engineering on design and deployment of security perimeter and adjacent network infrastructure
• Managing and continuously evolving network segmentation, DMZ, and other aspects of network security
• Evaluating and lab testing new platforms for network security infrastructure
• Collaborating with Cybersecurity on detection and mitigation of threats and vulnerabilities
• Interfacing with application owners and business users to enable workflows in a secure manner
• Proactively enhancing support by improving network infrastructure observability, scripting, and communicating requirements to software engineers
• Improving network security processes and documentation
• Finding and resolving issues, planning and executing deployments, and improving systems where possible

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience operating and deploying network infrastructure
• Experience with routing and network protocols (OSPF, BGP, PIM-SM)
• Experience troubleshooting transport protocols (TCP/UDP)
• Strong understanding of firewall hardware architecture, performance metrics, and functional components
• Experience with firewall configuration and troubleshooting
• Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure and related technologies
• Understanding of modern encryption techniques
• High capacity to learn and strong analytical thinking skills
• Ability to context switch while prioritizing and organizing your workload
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for global collaboration
• Fluency in English is required
• Experience with overlay networks (EVPN, VxLAN) is ideal
• Proficiency in a programming language is preferred but not required
• A flexible and reliable team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
