About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join their globally distributed Platform Engineering team in London. Our client operates at significant scale, processing high volumes of payment transactions across multiple countries. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that empowers engineering teams to build, release, and scale their products effectively.
The position balances strategic project delivery with operational excellence, combining hands-on technical work with collaborative problem-solving across a modern cloud-native technology stack.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automation for new and existing infrastructure components
- Design and deploy new platform components from initial concept through to production
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident management to ensure system health and stability
- Automate operational tasks to eliminate toil using software development skills
- Ensure systems remain secure against cybersecurity threats
- Collaborate closely with software engineers and data scientists across the organization
- Contribute to technical architecture design and participate in technical decision-making
- Perform continuous maintenance, improvements, and support for audits and compliance requirements
- Build easy-to-understand and maintainable tools that solve real engineering problems
What We're Looking For
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Ruby, or Golang
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling, particularly Terraform
- Experience with cloud computing providers such as AWS or GCP
- Experience working with containerized applications
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms
- Experience with monitoring tooling such as Grafana and Prometheus
- Experience with relational databases and other datastores, especially around high availability and performance optimization
- Understanding of DevOps and Agile principles
- Fluency in English with excellent teamwork and communication skills
Advantageous Experience:
- Previous work with Terraform automation tooling such as Terragrunt or Atlantis
- Container orchestration experience with Kubernetes and GKE
- Exposure to ArgoCD or similar GitOps tools
- Experience with Datadog or comparable observability platforms
