About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential robotics technology company based in Dresden that is building advanced simulation and digital twin capabilities for industrial applications. They are seeking a System Software Engineer to establish production-grade infrastructure for GPU-accelerated simulation workloads and browser-based streaming platforms.

This is a hands-on platform engineering role where you will transform working research technology into reproducible, self-service systems that internal teams, partners, and customers can operate independently. You will own the simulation-specific infrastructure while collaborating closely with the central platform team on shared capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate GPU infrastructure for simulation workloads, including NVIDIA GPU Operator, device plugins, driver lifecycle, and GPU sharing through MIG or time slicing
  • Integrate simulation workloads into shared Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure in collaboration with the platform team
  • Make deployments declarative and reproducible using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices
  • Own CI/CD pipelines and container lifecycle for CUDA-based workloads
  • Design scheduling and autoscaling for both latency-sensitive interactive streaming sessions and compute-intensive batch processing jobs
  • Transform 3D reconstruction pipelines into reproducible workflows from data capture through asset generation
  • Operate and extend simulation streaming platforms, including session lifecycle management and tenant isolation
  • Establish internal platform standards through self-service workflows, templates, and comprehensive documentation
  • Prepare solutions for operation in partner and customer environments with versioned releases, upgrade paths, and actionable diagnostics
  • Support deployments across cloud, on-premises, and partner-managed infrastructure
  • Build observability using metrics, logs, GPU telemetry, and alerting
  • Define security and access models including ingress, WebRTC networking, RBAC, secrets management, and SSO
  • Work cross-functionally with robotics, product, and platform teams to ensure the solution supports real development workflows

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Production experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, SRE, DevOps, or systems software
  • Practical Kubernetes experience including resource management, workload scheduling, and debugging distributed systems under load
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and CI/CD tooling
  • Solid knowledge of Linux, containers, and networking fundamentals
  • Strong Python skills for automation, services, and data-processing workflows
  • Either hands-on experience with GPU workloads or a strong technical foundation with clear interest in working with drivers, CUDA, and GPU scheduling
  • Ability to transform working technology into systems that teams can use independently
  • Strong sense of operational ownership including documentation, diagnostics, maintainability, and reproducibility
  • Very good English communication skills

Valuable additional experience:

  • Turning internally developed systems into products that can be operated in customer-controlled environments
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Kit SDK, or OpenUSD
  • Experience with Gaussian Splatting, NeRF, photogrammetry, or comparable 3D reconstruction pipelines
  • Knowledge of WebRTC, pixel streaming, or other low-latency video technologies
  • Python, Rust, or Go skills sufficient to contribute to existing services and infrastructure tooling
  • Experience with robotics or simulation environments such as ROS 2 or sim-to-real workflows
  • Experience with multi-tenant platforms, air-gapped deployments, or environments with specific security and compliance requirements
  • German language skills

You do not need prior experience with every technology listed. A strong systems foundation, ability to learn unfamiliar components, and genuine interest in this problem space are more important than matching every requirement.
