Senior Java Developer for E-Commerce + Accounting SaaS company – remote in EU

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in the accounting automation space. Our client is experiencing strong growth and needs an experienced Senior Java Developer to take ownership of critical billing and invoice systems. This is a fully remote position based in the EU, with a preference for candidates in or near Hamburg.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust billing applications and invoice generation systems using modern Java
• Architect and manage highly concurrent, multi-threaded application logic to ensure memory efficiency and system stability
• Take ownership of infrastructure tasks, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and well-maintained
• Utilize and optimize both SQL and NoSQL databases to handle evolving data requirements
• Design and maintain high-quality API integrations using modern standards like Swagger/OpenAPI
• Implement and manage solutions within cloud environments (GCP preferred)

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development with strong Java expertise
• Experience with AI coding tools and willingness to drive AI adoption in development processes
• A structured mindset: ability to break down complex problems and design clean, well-architected solutions
• Strong, proven experience in async environments and multi-threaded application logic
• DevOps and infrastructure experience with ownership of system scalability and reliability
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with comfort navigating ambiguity
• Strong collaboration skills with experience using Git, continuous deployment pipelines, and agile practices
• Clear communication abilities when working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
