Forward Deployed Engineering – Senior Architect

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading data platform organization in their search for a Forward Deployed Engineering - Senior Architect based in London. In this hands-on, customer-facing role, you will work directly with enterprise clients to architect and implement production-grade data and AI solutions. You'll own technical delivery from design through deployment, working at the intersection of engineering excellence and business impact.

This position combines deep technical expertise with customer engagement. You'll lead architecture decisions, build end-to-end systems spanning data engineering and AI, and deliver measurable outcomes for strategic accounts. Responsibilities

• Lead customer technical projects by designing and delivering production-grade data architectures, custom applications, and ML/AI model integrations
• Own architecture and design decisions for transformational big data and AI implementations, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with best practices
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build, and deployment of industry-leading data applications
• Embed with customer teams, engaging stakeholders from individual contributors to executives to understand challenges and deliver impact
• Collaborate with engagement managers to scope technical delivery work based on customer requirements
• Bootstrap and implement customer projects that drive successful adoption and understanding of the platform
• Work cross-functionally with technical teams, project managers, architects, and customer stakeholders to ensure engagement success
• Contribute reusable accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale impact across multiple accounts
• Provide product and implementation feedback to engineering teams and guide rapid resolution of engagement-specific issues
• Travel to customer sites approximately 20% of the time

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms and analytics, or software engineering
• Strong coding ability in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
• Working knowledge of two or more common cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with deep expertise in at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
• Proven experience designing and deploying performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments
• Experience with technical project delivery - managing scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes while translating complex concepts into actionable solutions
• Strong documentation and whiteboarding skills
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range
• Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies
• Relevant platform certifications are highly valued
