About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare communications organization seeking a Vice President of Public Relations with deep health sector expertise. Our talent team is working directly with this employer to identify a strategic leader who can drive client outcomes, build high-performing teams, and deliver measurable results in healthcare PR.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates across the United States. You'll lead healthcare practice operations, own client relationships, and guide a team of PR professionals focused on biotech, pharma, medical devices, hospital systems, digital health, and consumer wellness.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the healthcare practice, guiding team members to achieve excellence and measurable outcomes
• Serve as primary client contact for healthcare accounts, ensuring delivery of high-quality PR services and maintaining strong client relationships
• Develop comprehensive PR strategies tailored to each client's objectives, leveraging deep healthcare industry knowledge and market insights
• Oversee implementation of PR campaigns including media relations, thought leadership initiatives, crisis communications, and executive visibility programs
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of healthcare PR professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
• Build and maintain relationships with key healthcare media contacts across business, trade, clinical, and consumer publications
• Position clients as industry thought leaders through strategic content development, speaking opportunities, and participation in industry events
• Develop and implement crisis communication plans to safeguard client reputation and mitigate reputational risks
• Monitor campaign performance metrics and provide insights for optimization and continuous improvement
• Drive practice-level retention and revenue expansion through structured account management and proactive client service
• Represent the practice externally at industry events and through thought leadership in healthcare communications
• Partner with business development teams to win new healthcare clients

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in public relations with focus on healthcare and life sciences industries
• Senior leadership experience leading teams and owning practice-level outcomes
• Demonstrated specialty depth in at least three areas: FDA and regulatory communications, biotech and pharma, medical devices, hospital and health systems, payer relations, clinical trial communications, digital health, or healthcare policy
• Proven track record of successfully managing PR campaigns for healthcare clients with measurable results in media placements and client satisfaction
• Documented history of client retention and expansion with quantifiable outcomes
• Strong leadership and management skills with ability to inspire and motivate teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to craft compelling narratives and communicate complex healthcare concepts effectively
• Extensive network of media contacts and industry connections within the healthcare sector
• Strategic mindset with deep understanding of the healthcare industry landscape
• Comfort with data-driven approaches to earned media and AI-enabled workflows
• Results-oriented professional with passion for delivering high-quality work and exceeding client expectations
• Experience carrying revenue retention and expansion as primary performance metrics
