Responsibilities
Our talent team is representing a confidential healthcare technology client seeking a Batch Developer to play a critical role in their production systems. In this position, you will:
- Code, test, debug, implement, and document batch programs in C and Linux environments
- Modify and enhance existing systems to meet evolving business requirements
- Analyze program and time requirements, preparing documentation for system changes
- Design programs for new projects and enhancements to current production code
- Write technical specifications for low to moderate complexity programs
- Resolve production support issues and develop alternative approaches to problem-solving
- Develop comprehensive test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs
- Create and maintain program code and technical documentation
- Conduct quality assurance activities including peer code reviews
- Research industry trends and maintain current technical skills
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 3+ years of applications development and programming experience
- Strong proficiency in C programming, Linux environments, job scripts/streams, and SQL
- Experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS)
- Demonstrated ability resolving cycle abends and debugging batch code
- Solid SQL and data analysis skills for troubleshooting and validation
- Comfort supporting production issues, defect analysis, data investigation, and end-to-end testing
- Pharmacy or healthcare systems experience (NCPDP, EDI transactions) is highly desired
- Experience with mainframe (COBOL) or legacy systems is a plus
- Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate business needs
- Ability to travel occasionally (0-10%)
