Senior Software Engineer – Full-Stack

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential food-delivery technology organisation based in London. This Senior Software Engineer – Full-Stack role offers the opportunity to work on complex technical challenges within a high-traffic, multi-sided marketplace serving millions of users daily.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Designing, building, and scaling backend services and frontend components that handle high-volume workloads (20,000+ requests per minute)
• Leading architectural improvements and conducting code reviews to ensure system efficiency, visibility, and operational health
• Collaborating with product managers and experience designers to plan projects, identify dependencies, and mitigate technical risks
• Breaking down complex problems into deliverable solutions and influencing technical direction within your team
• Mentoring colleagues and participating in engineering hiring processes to build high-performing teams

This is a hybrid position based in London, typically requiring three days per week in the office.

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a senior engineer with significant full-stack experience and a track record of building scalable web applications. The ideal candidate will bring:

• Substantial experience building modern web-based applications; the tech stack includes Go, Ruby, Python, and Scala
• Proven ability to design and operate web architecture at scale, specifically with systems handling significant request volumes
• Demonstrated ownership of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience with NoSQL backends such as Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch
• A commitment to software craftsmanship, with pride in writing readable, well-designed, and thoroughly tested code
• Strong collaborative leadership skills, with a track record of guiding implementation decisions and supporting teammate growth
