About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential defense technology organization that builds mission-critical network management platforms. They are seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to design and develop full-stack features for systems that monitor and control diverse networking devices in operational environments.

This is a remote position in the United States, with an option to work from Portland, Oregon.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain full-stack features using C# and modern frameworks
  • Develop efficient APIs supporting multiple interfaces including REST, gRPC, and GraphQL
  • Build and extend microservices that run in Kubernetes environments, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security
  • Create automation scripts for deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting workflows
  • Contribute to AI-assisted coding initiatives by evaluating and integrating productivity tools
  • Develop specifications and architectural plans for new system designs
  • Participate in DevSecOps processes and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams
  • Produce clear technical and architectural documentation

What We're Looking For

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Deep expertise with C#,.NET, and modern design frameworks and development tools
  • Familiarity with virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V) and virtual networking concepts
  • Working knowledge of security concepts, PKI, and encryption standards
  • Experience with container orchestration, Docker compose files, and Helm charts is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with web UI technologies (Blazor, Angular, JavaScript) is a plus
  • Experience developing functionality to monitor or control hardware devices such as network routers or sensors is desirable
  • Strong communication and documentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude
