We are representing a rapidly growing cybersecurity organization with a global customer base that includes Fortune 500 enterprises across highly regulated industries. Our client is at the forefront of software supply chain security and has established strong momentum in Europe, where their solutions help organizations meet emerging compliance requirements while accelerating development velocity.

Europe represents a strategic growth priority for our client. With regulations like the Cyber Resilience Act, NIS2, and the EU AI Act actively shaping the category, they need a senior government affairs leader to establish their voice in European policy circles and translate regulatory developments into business impact.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to build and own the European policy function for a well-funded, high-growth company solving critical security challenges for the world's most sophisticated engineering organizations.

Responsibilities

As the first dedicated European government affairs and public policy leader, you will:

• Set and execute our client's European policy strategy, including priorities, positions, target institutions, and engagement approach
• Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulators, and standards organizations across Europe and the UK, including the European Commission (DG CNECT, DG GROW), European Parliament, ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, and ETSI
• Determine the right mix of direct advocacy versus industry coalition participation (such as DigitalEurope, CCIA Europe, BSA, techUK) and represent the organization where it creates strategic leverage
• Provide forward-looking political analysis on regulatory developments, anticipating where debates are heading before they become public
• Develop policy positions, consultation responses, and written submissions; speak authoritatively on behalf of the organization in public and industry forums
• Translate technical cybersecurity concepts into policy language and emerging regulatory requirements into actionable business implications
• Support product, marketing, and commercial teams with policy expertise and positioning guidance while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Establish repeatable processes, relationship frameworks, and intelligence workflows that scale the government affairs function
• Build toward leading a team as the European business grows

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 8+ years of directly relevant experience in government affairs or public policy within public sector organizations, regulatory/standards bodies, or private companies with established government affairs functions
• Proven track record building independently: standing up or growing a government affairs program or shepherding specific regulations, standards, or policy initiatives to completion
• Experience engaging senior government officials with the judgment and presence to represent a company credibly at that level
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical subject matter for policy audiences and explain regulatory implications to technical teams
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and minimal guidance; resourceful approach to achieving impact
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; credible with executives, engineers, and government stakeholders
• Relevant degree and/or equivalent professional experience
• Based in Europe with ability to travel frequently across the region

Preferred experience:

• Multi-country European government affairs portfolio spanning several jurisdictions
• Fluency in one or more European languages beyond English
• Experience across both public and private sector government affairs roles
• Familiarity with ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, ETSI, and major European cybersecurity regulatory bodies
• Knowledge of the Cyber Resilience Act conformity assessment framework (risk classes, notified bodies) and EU/UK lobbying transparency registers
• Experience representing organizations through industry coalitions or trade associations
• Subject matter expertise in software supply chain security, cybersecurity, or AI policy
• High-growth technology company experience
