Business and Legal Affairs Manager, The Orchard

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential music distribution organization seeking a Business and Legal Affairs Manager for their Berlin office. In this role, you will support the day-to-day legal needs of the business and legal affairs team, working with independent artists and labels across distribution, publishing, and merchandising agreements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Drafting, negotiating, and finalizing label and artist distribution agreements
• Drafting, negotiating, and finalizing music publishing and merchandising agreements
• Preparing amendments, assignments, and terminations as needed
• Supporting mergers and acquisitions activity in the German market
• Advising business and global legal teams on German law and practice matters
• Providing in-territory legal advice to stakeholders as part of a global legal team
• Creating, refining, and updating standard contract templates
• Co-managing legal claim resolution processes

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a qualified lawyer with 2-4 years of experience in a similar position within the music industry. You must possess:

• Law degree with thorough knowledge of German music law
• Experience with distribution contracts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English
• Strong contract drafting skills
• Specialized knowledge across all facets of the music business
• Strong organizational abilities with capacity to track and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Autonomous working style with proven ability to close deals
• Genuine passion for music and the music industry

This position is based in Berlin with a hybrid schedule (Monday-Thursday in office, Friday remote).
