Senior Data Engineer, Analytical Data Platform, Inteligent Platforms (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential food-tech organization seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their analytical data platform team in Berlin. This is a hands-on engineering role at the core of their platform infrastructure, supporting data and analytics teams across the organization.

In this position, you will:

• Lead the migration to Unity Catalog, transitioning from legacy workspaces to Terraform-enabled infrastructure with built-in governance, lineage, and access control
• Own and manage the Kubernetes-based compute platform that provides infrastructure for Spark and orchestration jobs, ensuring reliability and efficiency
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines, establishing standards for how infrastructure is provisioned across the platform
• Ensure platform reliability and observability by maintaining critical data paths, improving operational maturity, and investing in automation to minimize manual intervention
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure smooth integration points and enable downstream work through platform improvements

What we're looking for

Our client requires candidates with:

• Strong proficiency in Python and Terraform, with demonstrated experience building and operating production data infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (Unity Catalog experience is strongly preferred)
• Deep familiarity with Spark and distributed compute systems
• Experience orchestrating workflows with Airflow in production environments
• Proficiency with AWS infrastructure
• Experience managing Kubernetes clusters for data workloads
• Strong ownership mindset with focus on reliability, efficiency, and developer experience
• SQL knowledge is beneficial

Additional valued experience includes:

• Experience with Snowflake and large-scale data migrations
• Familiarity with data lakehouse architectures
• Prior contributions to internal developer platforms
