Applied AI Engineer – AI Finance Agent

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization expanding its AI engineering capabilities in Ireland. We're seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build production systems that automate real financial workflows—not research prototypes, but working systems that reduce manual effort and improve user experiences.

This is a remote role based in Ireland. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered workflows, assistants, agents and automation systems for production use
• Apply AI across customer support, CRM, onboarding, claims, renewals, payments, operations and internal tools
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transform manual processes into scalable AI-native systems
• Build integrations with LLMs, internal data sources, APIs, documents, knowledge bases and business systems
• Design evaluation, monitoring and fallback flows to ensure AI outputs are useful, safe and reliable
• Prototype quickly, test with users or operators, then productionize successful solutions
• Improve speed, quality and consistency across workflows using AI where it creates measurable business value

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering foundation, preferably with Python and backend systems
• Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs, agents, RAG, workflow automation or AI tools
• Ability to connect AI systems with real product, data and operational workflows
• Good judgment on where AI adds value versus where rule-based systems or human review are more appropriate
• Understanding of evaluation, accuracy, latency, cost, privacy and failure modes in AI systems
• Track record as a fast builder who can prototype, test and ship practical systems
• Experience in fintech, insurance, support automation, CRM or operations automation is strongly preferred
• Strong English communication skills required for global team collaboration

The right candidate is: A practical AI builder who thinks in workflows and systems, builds quickly while maintaining guardrails and reliability, works comfortably with messy real-world data and processes, and is honest about what AI can and cannot do.

This role is not suitable for: Candidates seeking research-only projects without production ownership, those who treat AI as demos rather than working systems, engineers who don't prioritize evaluation and reliability, or builders who cannot collaborate effectively with product, operations and business teams.
