Controller / Senior Controller (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential media organization in Berlin seeking a Controller / Senior Controller to strengthen their finance function with solid analysis, reliable metrics, and clear recommendations for business decisions.

This role goes beyond standard reporting. You will take ownership, understand business relationships, and actively drive improvements. Your day-to-day will blend strategic analysis with operational finance tasks, requiring initiative, pragmatism, and a strong hands-on mentality.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Supporting preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Participating in budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes
• Conducting evaluations, plan-versus-actual comparisons, and variance analysis
• Independently identifying, gathering, and preparing relevant data and KPIs in close collaboration with business units
• Creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and management presentations
• Analyzing revenue, cost, and performance metrics
• Supporting executive leadership and managers with ad-hoc analyses and business assessments
• Contributing to cross-functional projects and the digitalization and automation of finance and controlling processes
• Working closely with Finance, HR, Sales, and Marketing teams

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Controlling, Economics, or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in controlling, FP&A, finance, accounting, or a comparable environment
• Structured and meticulous working style with confident oversight of complex figures and situations
• Enthusiasm for understanding business relationships and supporting data-driven decisions
• Very strong Excel skills plus interest in BI tools, automation, and data-driven processes
• Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and motivation for professional and personal development
• Initiative and willingness to take ownership of your projects
• Strong team spirit with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach
• Excellent German language skills, written and spoken (minimum C1 level)
