Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential public media regulatory organization in Munich seeking a Head of Communications & Public Affairs to lead strategic and operational communications.

In this role, you will report directly to senior leadership and be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the strategic direction of internal and external communications and organizational positioning
  • Advising leadership and departments on all communication-related matters and developing communication frameworks for key topics
  • Managing press and media relations across all communication channels while ensuring a consistent public presence, including responsibility for corporate design and identity
  • Leading your team to ensure consistent, clear, and contemporary messaging to target audiences
  • Organizing events and managing event logistics
  • Advancing internal communication strategies
  • Managing crisis communication
  • Designing and steering cross-departmental communication projects
  • Transforming and developing your team

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an experienced communications professional with strategic vision, strong language skills, and understanding of media policy topics. You should be able to clearly contextualize complex content, communicate it understandably, and remain composed in dynamic situations.

Required qualifications:

  • Completed degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, or comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in strategic communications and press relations, as well as advising leadership teams
  • Understanding of media policy, societal, and administrative contexts
  • Experience in visual communication, corporate design, and creation of print and digital media; graphic design skills are advantageous
  • Very good German language skills and good English proficiency
  • Leadership competence and experience, strong drive to shape outcomes, high reliability, and team spirit

This is a full-time position based in Munich with excellent public transport connections, flexible working hours, and family-friendly policies.
