About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential healthcare revenue cycle management organization in their search for an AR Specialist 2. Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is partnering with this client to identify experienced accounts receivable professionals who excel at insurance follow-up and claim resolution.
This is a remote position available to candidates in the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Virginia, Vermont, Michigan, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient eligibility and obtain authorizations for healthcare services by accessing payer websites, client systems, or conducting phone inquiries with insurance carriers and providers
- Update patient demographics and insurance information in appropriate systems to maintain accurate records
- Research and status unpaid or denied claims, monitoring for missing information, authorization numbers, and control numbers
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents to identify payments, adjustments, and resolve outstanding claims
- Contact insurance payers through phone or written correspondence to secure timely payment of claims
- Access client systems to gather information on received payments, open claims, and other data necessary for claim resolution
- Follow prioritization guidelines, timely filing deadlines, and notation protocols within designated systems
- Secure medical documentation as required by third-party insurance carriers
- Research provider billing manuals to obtain billing guidelines and requirements
- Write technical appeal letters for denied claims
- Verify accuracy of underpayments by researching contracts and claims data
- Prepare claims for clinical audit processing when denials involve authorization, coding, level of care, or length of stay issues
- Support compliance programs by adhering to HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, and other applicable healthcare regulations
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow-up, working with or for a hospital or hospital system
- Direct experience working with government or commercial insurance payers
- Demonstrated ability to identify billing errors and resubmit claims
- Experience following up on payment errors, low reimbursement, and denials
- Proficiency reviewing EOB and UB-04 forms to conduct accounts receivable activities
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices, medical business office procedures, coordination of benefits rules, and denial overturn processes
- Understanding of third-party payer billing and reimbursement procedures and practices
- At least two years of experience with accounts receivable software
- Experience navigating payer websites for appeals, reconsiderations, benefits verification, and online claims follow-up
- Strong computer skills including Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office (Excel for data input and sorting, email, and calendar tools)
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand complex information and accurately document payer interactions
- Track record of meeting performance objectives
