Senior Security Engineer, Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) – EMEA

Responsibilities

Our client, a leading DevSecOps technology company, is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their Security Incident Response Team during EMEA business hours. This role operates on a compressed 4-day schedule (Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday) as part of a 24/7 global security operation.

You will lead end-to-end incident response for high-severity security events, conducting complex investigations across cloud environments using strong Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) methodologies. Your responsibilities include preparing executive communications during incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and leading post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.

A key focus will be partnering with detection engineering teams to design SIEM use cases, alerting strategies, and telemetry pipelines. You'll build automation and AI-assisted workflows to improve triage speed and response consistency, while collaborating with threat intelligence to enhance detection coverage.

You will develop runbooks, playbooks, and operational documentation, mentor other engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, infrastructure, legal, product, and communications teams during incidents and proactive initiatives such as tabletop exercises.

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience in security incident response and investigations in cloud-first environments
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, and detection engineering
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and GCP
• Experience using or administering Git-based version control in security or engineering contexts
• Familiarity with threat intelligence frameworks and adversary tactics (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK)
• Experience building automation using Python, scripting, or SOAR platforms
• Interest or experience applying AI/ML or data-driven techniques to detection, triage, or response workflows
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate effectively during high-severity incidents
• Excellent written communication skills with a passion for clear, actionable documentation
• Growth mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks
