Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential media and marketing organisation in London, seeking a Planning Director to join a bespoke global client practice team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering strategic media planning and communications excellence for a high-profile technology client across multiple business units.

Media Planning:

  • Develop advanced understanding of media channels, channel ecosystems, and planning best practices
  • Translate strategic approaches into actionable planning practices for client briefs and pitches
  • Demonstrate expertise in purchase journey thinking and planning philosophy across all client work
  • Utilise internal and external tools to build deep understanding of consumer behaviour, client business, and market opportunities
  • Maintain expert overview of media market landscape and trends, building strong media owner relationships

Campaign Management & Client Communication:

  • Oversee campaign management with rigorous quality control to ensure highest-standard output
  • Apply skilled understanding of commercial practices across the wider agency landscape
  • Build and maintain client and agency relationships at mid-senior level
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding of stakeholder needs and client business objectives

Communications Planning and Storytelling:

  • Own planning presentations, defining required inputs and coordinating with teams to meet deadlines
  • Lead brainstorming and idea creation for campaigns
  • Independently problem-solve by integrating and questioning data and insights
  • Provide actionable insights during mid-campaign and post-campaign reporting to improve optimisations

  • Proven ability to present directly from media planning platforms and develop compelling stories from data
  • Confidence answering client questions and liaising with internal teams on optimal solutions
  • Critical thinking skills with ability to maintain broad perspective when analysing information
  • Strong knowledge of client sector/industry that informs strategy and planning
  • Track record of delivering relevant, accurate information to drive maximum impact
  • Consistent ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders at all levels of seniority

  • Big-picture thinking with understanding of organisational dynamics and industry trends
  • Ability to design differentiated communications for various internal and external audiences
  • Knowledge of client, audience, channel, market, and category to deliver compelling multi-media plans
  • Experience applying best practices to campaign management and acting as escalation point for issues
  • Capability to oversee team members, prioritise resources, and improve workload management
  • Experience with purchase journey visualisation and how media plans work across channels

This is a London-based role requiring the right to work in the UK. The organisation operates a hybrid model with approximately four days per week in office.
