Senior Software Engineer – Ruby on Rails (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is building an AI-driven platform operating across Europe. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong Ruby on Rails expertise who can take full ownership of projects from concept through production.

This is a hybrid role based in Berlin, requiring someone who thrives working independently while collaborating closely with product teams. You'll be diving deep into complex legal and procedural domains while helping evolve an AI-augmented platform.

Responsibilities

• Own clear scopes end-to-end, driving projects from idea to production with significant autonomy
• Design, build, and run proof-of-concepts to validate technical decisions before full implementation
• Develop, optimize, and maintain core backend applications and services
• Contribute to high-level architecture decisions ensuring scalability, performance, and availability
• Build deep domain expertise in legal and procedural processes relevant to the platform
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to shape roadmap and enable business growth
• Work AI-augmented, leveraging tools like Claude Code in your development workflow
• Help evolve the AI-based platform and stay current with industry trends

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 1+ year on medium-to-large projects
• Strong backend experience with Ruby on Rails (required core stack)
• Language-agnostic mindset with ability to choose the right tool for each challenge
• Hands-on experience with Go and/or Python is a significant plus
• Proven ability to scope, drive, and deliver projects independently with minimal direction
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD practices
• Track record of writing clean, maintainable backend code and solid infrastructure
• Comfortable working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban)
• Genuine interest in AI-based technologies and building on top of them
• Solid English communication skills

Nice to have:

• Experience in financial or accounting industries
• Frontend development skills, especially Vue.js and GraphQL
• Infrastructure experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, Linux
• Knowledge of Node.js, Rust, or Java

Compensation & Benefits

Pay via Get A Job.ai: €77,000 - €92,000 gross per year (based on 40-hour work week), with the exact offer reflecting your experience and qualifications.
