Principal Consultant – AI Consulting – Financial Services

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Principal Consultant to lead their AI consulting initiatives. This is a permanent position based in London, requiring a strategic leader who can bridge cutting-edge AI capabilities with practical business outcomes in regulated environments.

Our client is building their data, technology, and AI consulting capabilities and needs an experienced professional to serve as the primary advisor on complex AI transformations. You'll work directly with C-level executives to deliver propositions around artificial intelligence, automation, data platforms, and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI-focused client engagements as the main point of contact and trusted advisor across financial services organizations
• Deliver high-quality projects involving AI, data platforms, automation, and cloud technologies
• Own account management and project delivery, ensuring excellence across all client touchpoints
• Manage and mentor a team of consultants, maintaining high standards of delivery quality
• Drive pipeline management including project extensions, new opportunities, pricing, and resource allocation
• Draft and negotiate statements of work, including commercial terms and pricing structures
• Propose continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence improvements
• Stay current with AI trends, tools, and regulatory developments to ensure compliant, scalable solutions
• Contribute to internal thought leadership and drive AI expertise across the practice
• Lead change management initiatives covering strategy, design, analysis, project management, testing, and go-live activities

What We're Looking For

• Deep understanding of the AI landscape within financial services, including data foundations, model development, governance, and responsible AI principles
• Proven experience advising C-level clients on practical AI applications such as agentic AI, generative AI, automation, and predictive analytics
• Strong commercial awareness combined with excellent delivery track record
• Demonstrated leadership capability across client engagements and internal initiatives
• Proven people management experience with ability to develop and mentor teams
• Experience leading client engagements from estimation through delivery, balancing expectations and outcomes
• Change management expertise across the full project lifecycle
• Extensive understanding of financial services including products, client lifecycle, and regulatory considerations
• Strong knowledge of capital markets ecosystem including sell side, buy side, and market infrastructure participants
• Ability to articulate technical value propositions to clients and demonstrate previous contributions to products and solutions
• Valid UK work authorization required
• Willingness to work hybrid schedule with minimum 3 days per week on-site at client or office locations
