Senior Android Developer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential digital technology consultancy based in London. We're seeking a Senior Android Developer to join their world-class engineering practice. This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days per week in their London office or on client site, offering excellent work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end features and small subsystems for high-performance Android applications
• Optimize app performance, accessibility, and responsiveness across the Android ecosystem
• Lead delivery of specific features or workstreams, taking accountability for successful implementation
• Explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders and clients
• Present demos confidently to clients and stakeholders to influence tactical direction
• Mentor junior developers in both technical craft and engineering processes
• Participate in recruitment panels and represent the practice externally
• Contribute to the mobile engineering community of practice through regular knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• Exceptional proficiency in Kotlin and Java, with deep understanding of the Android SDK
• Strong experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI development
• Solid grasp of Android Architecture Components, MVVM/MVI patterns, and modularized codebases
• Practical application of SOLID principles and clean code practices
• Experience with core threading, offline storage, and performance tuning on Android
• Familiarity with the Android open-source ecosystem and third-party libraries
• Proven track record writing reliable UI tests and maintaining clean development lifecycles
• Fluency with modern version control workflows using Git
• Experience with or openness to cross-platform frameworks like Flutter or React Native
• Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across technical and business teams

We're looking for developers with strong engineering fundamentals who can adapt to different technologies. You don't need to be an expert in every framework—curiosity and willingness to learn are highly valued.

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process based on your experience level and our client's budget for this role.
