About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential digital technology consultancy based in Scotland. Our client is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join their growing engineering practice in Glasgow. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work while connecting with the team in-office two days per week.
As a Senior Backend Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering end-to-end backend features for complex, business-critical digital transformation projects. You'll work closely with ambitious clients across various industries, translating technical solutions into meaningful business outcomes while mentoring junior team members and championing quality throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver robust, scalable backend subsystems with a focus on modularity and maintainability
- Champion software quality and security through peer code reviews and defensive application security measures
- Guide testing strategies across unit and service levels, ensuring comprehensive coverage
- Translate complex technical decisions into clear, accessible language for clients and stakeholders
- Mentor junior developers through constructive feedback and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to the engineering practice's collective knowledge base and technical standards
- Balance delivery speed with quality to ensure sustainable feature releases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record delivering complex digital products in a backend development capacity
- Deep, practical experience with.NET C# in production environments
- Familiarity with modern cloud platforms and patterns, particularly Azure, Durable Functions, Event sourcing, SQL, and Docker
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles, software maintainability, and industry-standard security practices
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Passion for mentoring team members and providing constructive, encouraging feedback
- Collaborative problem-solving mindset with a focus on sustainable engineering practices
- Ability to work hybrid from Glasgow, Scotland (2 days per week in-office)
