Senior Finanzbuchhalter (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential organization in Berlin that needs an experienced senior accounting professional to ensure financial operations run smoothly and accurately. In this role, you will:

• Take full ownership of ongoing financial accounting for multiple entities, ensuring all business transactions are recorded completely, correctly, and on time
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB), maintaining precision and meeting all deadlines
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, reconcile accounts, and maintain high-quality standards across all bookkeeping operations
• Prepare, review, and execute payment runs, coordinating with banks and external service providers as needed
• Process travel and credit card expense reports in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements
• Reconcile and maintain fixed assets and inventory records with transparent documentation
• Serve as the primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, and internal departments, providing necessary documentation and information
• Identify optimization opportunities and actively contribute to improving accounting, closing, and reporting processes
• Provide technical support and mentorship to colleagues within the finance team

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting with proven ability to independently prepare monthly and annual financial statements
• Commercial vocational training, degree in finance/accounting, or comparable qualification
• Strong knowledge of German accounting principles and confident assessment of balance sheet impacts and transaction recording
• Proficiency with DATEV software and solid understanding of digital accounting and closing processes
• Structured, detail-oriented, and self-directed work style with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
• Solution-focused approach—you investigate discrepancies independently, ask critical questions, and develop practical, technically sound solutions
• Strong team collaboration and communication skills with professional demeanor toward internal departments and external partners
• Fluent German language skills (written and spoken) required; English proficiency is welcomed but not mandatory
• Certification as Bilanzbuchhalter/in or Steuerfachwirt/in is welcome but not required for this position
