Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in Birmingham seeking a Product Director to lead strategy, vision, and execution across their field service and facilities management platform. This is a senior leadership role requiring broad product expertise, deep domain understanding, strong people leadership, and proven ability to design, build, and scale AI-powered products.

You will own the product vision and roadmap across the entire platform, lead and mentor a high-performing product team, and partner with the executive team to translate market opportunity into commercial outcomes. You'll drive the AI-first product agenda, defining where AI delivers genuine value, embedding intelligence into core workflows, and ensuring responsible delivery at pace.

Key areas of ownership include:

  • Setting product vision and strategy aligned to ambitious growth targets, translating market trends and customer insight into a clear, prioritised portfolio roadmap
  • Leading the AI-first product agenda across LLMs, ML, agents, and predictive analytics—identifying highest-value AI use cases from intelligent scheduling to predictive maintenance and engineer copilots
  • Hiring, mentoring, and developing Product Managers across the portfolio, running regular 1:1s, career conversations, and development plans tailored to each PM's strengths and goals
  • Coaching PMs through complex trade-offs, stakeholder management, prioritisation calls, and high-stakes customer situations
  • Embedding deep, continuous discovery across the product team through customer calls, field visits, usage analytics, and qualitative research
  • Partnering with Design and Engineering leadership to ship simple, scalable, beautifully crafted products
  • Owning product-led inputs to ARR growth, retention, expansion, and adoption, defining and tracking product KPIs and OKRs
  • Defining how product, design, and engineering work together, scaling the function from single-product to multi-product, platform-led operating model

You'll lead product across the platform including end-to-end FSM and CAFM strategy, AI-first initiatives, reactive and PPM workflows, scheduling and dispatch, mobile experience, asset lifecycle management, customer portals, data and analytics, vertical-specific workflows, and platform integrations.

What We're Looking For

Must-have qualifications:

  • Extensive proven experience in product management, including substantial experience directly managing and mentoring product managers in B2B SaaS
  • Proven people leadership and mentoring track record—you've built teams from the ground up, developed PMs into Senior PMs and beyond, with specific examples of careers you've helped shape
  • Proven track record shipping and scaling AI-powered products from problem framing through production, evaluation, and adoption
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of modern AI/ML and GenAI capabilities: LLMs, agents, RAG, evals, prompt and context engineering, model selection, fine-tuning, and ML lifecycle trade-offs
  • Broad product expertise across multiple domains—workflows, platform, mobile, data, integrations—with ability to set strategy across all of them
  • Experience in Field Service Management, Facilities Management, CAFM/CMMS, Construction Tech, or adjacent vertical SaaS domain
  • Strong commercial instinct, comfortable owning revenue-impacting decisions, pricing, packaging, and ROI cases
  • Demonstrated success building, hiring, retaining, and growing product teams of 5–20+ people
  • Excellent strategic communication, able to translate complex problems into clear narratives for board, customers, and engineering teams

People leadership and mentoring skills:

  • Natural mentor who genuinely enjoys growing people and takes pride in their wins
  • Skilled at giving direct, kind, actionable feedback and equally skilled at receiving it
  • Comfortable having hard conversations around performance, levelling, role changes, and tough prioritisation calls
  • Strong emotional intelligence—you read teams well, spot burnout early, and create space for people to do their best work
  • Track record hiring exceptional product talent and building diverse, inclusive teams
  • Able to flex coaching style from new PMs needing structure to senior PMs needing sounding-board sparring

Product and leadership skills:

  • Strong product craft: discovery, prioritisation, written specs, systems thinking, and outcome orientation
  • Ability to operate at multiple altitudes from 3-year strategy to specific PRDs and AI evaluation criteria
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, complex stakeholders, and competing priorities
  • Data- and evidence-led decision making balanced with strong product intuition
  • Influence without authority across executive, commercial, and technical stakeholders

Valuable additional experience:

  • Scaling product in PE-backed or high-growth SaaS environment
  • International expansion exposure (Europe, North America)
  • Background in scheduling, optimisation, IoT, or operations research
  • Launching agentic or copilot experiences in B2B workflows
  • Familiarity with APIs, marketplaces, and partner ecosystems
  • Engineering, data science, or design background
