About This Opportunity
We are representing a leading early-stage venture capital firm in Munich that invests in B2B technology companies across Europe. Our talent team is searching for a Master's student or intern to join a specialized data and AI research team working at the intersection of applied machine learning and investment intelligence.
This is a hands-on research role with real impact. You will work alongside investors, AI researchers, and engineers, taking research questions from literature review through to working prototypes that inform actual investment decisions. You will be treated as a full team member with ownership over your work from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research in machine learning and AI, focusing on one of several potential directions including graph neural networks, program-aided language models, or Bayesian updating frameworks
- Build working prototypes from research concepts, writing clean and modular Python code
- Work with proprietary venture capital datasets and the pipelines required to use them productively
- Present research findings and technical results to investment decision-makers
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of investors, researchers, and engineers
- Use AI-assisted coding tools effectively while maintaining code quality and reviewing all outputs critically
- Take ownership of research direction, showing drafts iteratively and flagging obstacles early
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field at a top university
- Strong foundations in machine learning and statistics
- Proficiency in Python with the ability to write clean, modular code
- Depth or ambition to build depth in at least one relevant area: graph ML and graph databases (e.g., PyTorch Geometric), LLM tooling and evaluation, or probabilistic modeling (e.g., PyMC, NumPyro)
- Experience working independently on a project where you set the direction yourself
- Fluency with AI-assisted coding tools and strong judgment about their appropriate use, including awareness of their limitations and the discipline to review all generated output
- Fluent English for technical work, writing, and presentations; German helpful but not required
- Strong agency and ability to work autonomously with mentorship rather than task-by-task direction
How We Work With You
When you apply through Get A Job.ai, our recruiting team will conduct an initial screening to understand your background and research interests. We will then coordinate your submission to our client's hiring team. Please do not contact the client organization directly, as all communication should flow through our talent team to ensure a structured process.
Our client operates as an AI-powered development team where everyone codes with AI assistance as a craft skill. You will receive mentorship, context, and access to the full team, but you will be expected to drive your own work forward—taking problem statements, proposing approaches, sharing drafts early, and communicating obstacles clearly.
The role offers access to a Munich-based workspace, monthly team activities, sports classes, makerspace facilities, full AI development tooling, MacBook or Windows laptop (your choice), and the opportunity to work with proprietary venture data rarely available to researchers. Academic supervision can be arranged for eligible students.
Pay
Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process and are competitive for a six-month Master's thesis or internship position in Munich.
Equal Employment Opportunity: Get A Job.ai and our client are committed to building diverse teams. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals regardless of gender, social and ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion, age, or disability status.
