Data & Business Intelligence Specialist (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IT services organization seeking a Data & Business Intelligence Specialist to join their team in Hattingen, Germany. This is a full-time, permanent position offering significant remote flexibility (up to 4 days working from home per week).

In this role, you will take ownership of the enterprise-wide data function, working closely with DevOps teams to advance data analytics, business intelligence, and data integration capabilities. You'll be the central point of contact for all data-related questions and will transform diverse data sources into reliable insights that drive business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the company-wide data function as the primary contact for data-related initiatives
• Analyze business requirements and develop reports, dashboards, and KPI visualizations using tools including Microsoft Power BI and Grafana
• Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive data models
• Ensure reliable data integration between internal and external systems
• Establish and evolve standards for data quality and data governance
• Identify data-driven optimization and automation opportunities
• Collaborate with business units to develop tailored data solutions for varied requirements
• Define technical requirements and coordinate with DevOps teams to implement scalable, secure data platforms
• Document data models, data sources, and integrations in a clear, structured manner

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Completed degree or vocational training in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or comparable qualification
• Ideally around 7+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data solutions, or comparable environment
• Experience handling large volumes of structured and unstructured data
• Very good German and English language skills (written and spoken)
• Ability to present complex data relationships clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, and continuous improvement principles

Valuable technical experience includes:

• SQL and database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, or PostgreSQL
• Microsoft Power BI
• Microsoft Azure Data Platform
• Elasticsearch
• ETL processes and ETL concepts
• Data warehousing
• Data modeling according to established models and best practices
• Data APIs and common data formats and structures

Experience from the IT, telecommunications, or managed services sectors is advantageous.
