Senior Data Engineer (Azure)

We are representing a confidential technology client seeking a Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure. This is a fully remote position open to candidates worldwide who can work within CET timezone (±3 hours).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SQL, and other Azure services
• Implement complex data models, DAX measures, and calculated columns to support reporting needs
• Manage and optimize ETL workflows, ensuring data quality, consistency, and high performance
• Design and maintain data warehouses and dimensional models (star/snowflake schema)
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Integrate data from various sources including SQL databases, cloud storage, APIs, and flat files
• Ensure data governance, accuracy, and integrity across the business intelligence ecosystem

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering roles
• Advanced SQL knowledge including complex queries, performance tuning, and stored procedures
• Strong understanding of Azure technologies such as Azure SQL Database and Data Factory
• Proven experience in ETL development, data integration, and pipeline orchestration
• Deep understanding of data modeling principles and data warehouse architectures
• Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, and data security best practices
• Location: must be able to work within CET timezone (±3 hours)

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, and Azure DevOps
• Expertise in Power BI development including Power Query, DAX, and Power BI Service
• Experience with Python or other scripting languages for data processing
• Proficiency with Git or other version control systems and CI/CD practices
• Microsoft certifications (Power BI, Azure Data Engineer, or SQL Server)
