Senior Analytical Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential renewable energy organization in their search for a Senior Analytical Engineer to join their central data team in Paris. This is a cross-functional role working at the intersection of business needs and data infrastructure.

You will strengthen and develop the data foundations that serve the entire organization and its data practitioners. Your core responsibilities include:

• Data modeling and semantic layer: Design, develop, and maintain shared data models serving business needs (particularly finance) and leadership. Act as the technical reference point for finance and energy procurement teams. Structure and organize data governance to ensure a single source of truth.
• Data quality and standards: Ensure quality of data models through best practice dissemination and monitoring. Prevent redundancies and technical debt accumulation to maintain clean lineage. Manage incidents on the most critical models.
• Community enablement: Lead or co-lead training sessions, coaching, and routines for data teams. Drive AI adoption across the stack through skills development, demonstrations, and use cases. Ensure code quality through PR reviews on dbt models and SQL queries produced by other data practitioners.
• International coordination: Ensure consistency and serve as liaison for common practices across the broader organization. Contribute to improvements of shared models.

What We're Looking For

Technical Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in analytical engineering, analytical data engineering, or analytics with strong technical orientation
• Advanced mastery of dbt: experience on real-scale projects, managing structure, documentation, and testing
• Expert SQL — capable of optimizing complex queries on modern data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks or equivalent)
• Comfortable with Python for automation and analytical scripts, following development best practices
• Comfortable with data visualization tools and programmatic management practices (e.g., "dashboard-as-code")
• Strong knowledge of analytical architecture patterns: Kimball, Data Vault, Medallion, or hybrid — and especially the reasoning behind each choice
• Experience in data quality management
• Academic background in statistics, mathematics, economics, specialized data degree, or engineering school with strong data focus

Soft Skills & Attributes:

• Rigor and attention to detail: data quality starts with code quality
• Pedagogical approach and desire to upskill others to avoid creating silos
• Comfortable in decentralized environments: you must convince through quality of work and clarity of recommendations among data practitioners
• Thrive in dynamic environments where needs can evolve quickly
• Fluent English (written and spoken) for interaction with international colleagues

Technical Stack: Lightdash and Streamlit for visualization, dbt for modeling, Databricks (on AWS) for lakehousing, Airflow for orchestration, Git for version control, and AI tools including Claude Code, Copilot, and Gemini.

The role is based in Paris with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive for the Paris market based on your experience level.
