QA Automation Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology client seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join their remote team. This is a full-time position based in Brazil, working during U.S. business hours.

This is an automation-first engineering role—not manual QA. You'll build and scale automated testing systems using Playwright and TypeScript, working closely with engineering teams to strengthen test coverage, eliminate flaky tests, and ensure high-quality releases.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and expand end-to-end automation using Playwright and TypeScript
• Develop scalable automation frameworks for critical product workflows
• Improve regression coverage across frontend and backend systems
• Write reliable, reusable, and maintainable automated tests
• Identify and eliminate flaky tests while improving test execution speed and framework stability
• Troubleshoot issues related to DOM interactions, asynchronous behavior, and network requests
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines
• Support reliable deployments through continuous testing and maintain test environments
• Partner with frontend and backend engineers throughout feature development
• Participate in release planning and testing strategy discussions
• Leverage AI tools to improve exploratory testing and automation workflows

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with Playwright (Cypress experience acceptable with willingness to transition)
• Proven experience building and maintaining end-to-end automation frameworks
• Strong understanding of DOM interactions, asynchronous behavior, network requests, and debugging flaky tests
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
• Knowledge of test data management strategies
• Experience testing B2B SaaS or multi-tenant applications
• Familiarity with role-based access and permissions testing
• Experience with AI-assisted testing tools and workflows
• Startup or product-led environment experience
