About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential SaaS client in their search for a Head of Customer Education. This is a high-impact leadership role that will drive forward three interconnected functions: Recruiting Operations Consulting, Academy programs, and Product Enablement. You'll lead a team of motivated professionals and build the operating model that unifies these capabilities into a coherent educational strategy serving both customers and internal go-to-market teams.
The Education team acts as a force multiplier across the organization, creating content and experiences that meet customers where they are—from recruiting managers just getting started to heads of talent optimizing sophisticated processes. You'll oversee 1:1 consulting engagements, public-facing Academy content and digital programs, and product enablement that closes the gap between what the platform can do and what customer-facing teams can confidently demonstrate.
Responsibilities
As Head of Education, you'll manage across three core functions:
- RecOps Consulting: Oversee consulting engagements ensuring they drive measurable value, and that insights from direct customer work scale into Academy content rather than remaining siloed. Partner with Professional Services on scoping paid engagements, defining the boundary between complimentary and paid work, and evolving the consulting model by customer segment.
- Academy: Partner with the Manager of Academy on content strategy—what gets built, how it's organized, and how the library evolves. Build new Academy programs including product certification paths, centralize the webinar function, and launch digital programs that deliver education through in-app and email experiences.
- Product Enablement: Build this as a distinct function—translating deep product context for customer success managers and account executives, addressing the challenge of continuous product releases for field teams, and designing durable new hire onboarding experiences.
- Team & Operations: Build the operating infrastructure that enables all three functions to scale: intake processes, engagement frameworks, capacity planning, and the systems that keep functions working together rather than in parallel. Manage a mix of managers and individual contributors, identifying where additional leadership layers are needed.
- External Representation: Represent the Education function through webinars, industry events, and customer sessions, synthesizing feedback into credible product input.
What We're Looking For
There isn't one standard background that defines success in this role. Strong candidates typically bring experience building and scaling Recruiting Operations, Customer Success, or Customer Education functions.
You could be a great fit if you:
- Think from first principles about education—skeptical of generic "best practices" and focused on what serves the specific audience in front of you
- Are a strong leader of leaders who develops people deliberately, holds a high bar without micromanaging, and creates environments where teams do their best work
- Think in operating models—able to look at distinct functions and determine what they need to share, where they stay separate, and how to build systems without over-engineering
- Are energized by being close to the work—you'll start by directly managing consultants and Academy team members before building out additional leadership layers
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and show up as a credible, collaborative peer with counterparts across Customer Success, Sales, Product, and Marketing
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and motivated by building—this team is still early and needs someone who can figure out how to scale
- Communicate with clarity and operate well in writing-heavy cultures where proposals, frameworks, and documentation drive decisions
- Think carefully about the full customer spectrum from small teams to enterprise organizations and can build programs that serve both
- Are comfortable learning new tools and engaging directly enough to support your team—whether understanding in-product journey configuration or evaluating LMS features
- Have a perspective on how consulting fits into an education strategy—where 1:1 expertise should scale into content and where the two motions reinforce each other
You might not be a great fit if you:
- Prefer to set strategy and hand it off—this role requires staying close to the work to build supporting systems and infrastructure
- Aren't comfortable in front of customers—you'll support consulting engagements and represent the organization at events
- Don't enjoy reviewing content—you'll be the final bar for what the team publishes
- Rely on industry playbooks to tell you what an education function should look like—we need someone who builds from first principles
- Find it hard to thrive when scope is shifting—this function evolves constantly as business needs change
