Senior AI Engineer (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential construction technology client in Munich who is building production AI systems for supply chain digitization. This is a senior individual contributor role with a clear growth path toward technical leadership. You'll own AI infrastructure and model deployment end-to-end, working on document understanding, data extraction, and reconciliation problems where accuracy and reliability directly impact daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead MLOps processes and maintain infrastructure to keep AI systems reliable, scalable, and secure in production
• Design and implement advanced AI features, working closely with engineering and product teams to deploy machine learning models and data pipelines
• Improve accuracy, efficiency, and uncertainty estimation of existing AI features through rigorous testing and iteration
• Contribute to scalability, maintainability, and core functionality of AI solutions while building new capabilities from scratch
• Align technical work with customer needs and support product and sales discussions
• Help establish engineering standards, tooling, and quality practices across the team
• Mentor and technically guide colleagues as you build the track record to grow into a leadership role
• Leverage modern AI tools such as Claude or Cursor as part of daily workflows

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI engineering, including end-to-end lifecycle management and MLOps
• Strong expertise in natural language processing and image processing
• Advanced Python skills and experience with Azure; Terraform experience is a plus
• Passion for generative AI, OCR, and building customer-focused solutions that work in the field
• Track record of writing clean, well-tested code with attention to post-deployment performance
• Solid understanding of AI agents, tools, and their practical limitations
• Ideally, some experience mentoring or technically guiding others with ambition to grow into a Team Lead role
• Fluent English and German (C1 or above)
• Willingness to work from the Munich office at least two days per week (hybrid arrangement)
