Data & AI Product Engineer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in Germany that is looking for a Data & AI Product Engineer to develop and evolve data-driven and AI-powered product features. You will connect technical product thinking with a strong understanding of data and artificial intelligence, working collaboratively to translate complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• End-to-end feature development for data and AI capabilities, from concept through prototyping to production integration
• Data preparation and feature engineering from user events, POS systems, menu data, IoT sensors, and CRM platforms
• Implementing and integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) for chatbots, text analysis, and automated content generation
• Designing and integrating APIs and MCPs
• Building intelligent recommendation systems for personalized menus, promotions, and order forecasting
• Developing time series analysis and forecasting models to predict demand, visit frequency, and sales trends
• Rapid prototyping and iterating on new ideas in close collaboration with Product, Design, and Backend teams
• Contributing to scalable data infrastructure including pipelines, feature stores, model deployment, and monitoring
• Working closely with the Product team to transform data-driven insights and AI models into real customer experiences

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or comparable background
• Experience developing data-based or AI-supported applications, ideally in a SaaS or product environment
• Strong understanding of data modeling, analytics, and machine learning
• Experience building and operating modern data architectures and pipelines, ideally with Microsoft Fabric and AI Foundry
• Practical experience with cloud-based data platforms and production-grade data workflows
• Excellent skills in Python and SQL
• Experience with API integrations and basic backend development
• Knowledge of feature engineering, time series forecasting, and recommender systems advantageous
• Ideally, experience with LLM APIs and modern AI toolchains including MCP
• Ability to think about technical solutions from product and user perspectives
• Structured, independent working style with high motivation and flexibility
• Enthusiasm for quickly testing new ideas, developing them iteratively, and converting them into products
• Excellent English skills; German language skills advantageous
