Project Manager (Utility BESS)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential renewable energy organization seeking a Project Manager with expertise in utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role is based in Poland and offers the opportunity to manage critical commissioning and delivery activities across European markets. Our client is actively expanding their energy storage portfolio and needs an experienced professional to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project execution.

Responsibilities

• Manage project execution and commissioning activities for utility-scale energy storage installations across Europe, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors
• Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans to support project delivery efforts
• Negotiate and manage contracts with customers regarding project delivery terms and conditions
• Lead projects through to commercial operations and facilitate smooth handover from construction teams to operations and maintenance personnel
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, holding suppliers and contractors accountable to established standards
• Develop and implement testing protocols aligned with market rules, distribution network operator requirements, and contractual obligations
• Produce regular project progress reports and maintain comprehensive risk matrices

What We're Looking For

• Suitable engineering degree or equivalent qualifications
• Proven experience managing projects and commissioning electrical equipment within Solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects or similar renewable energy initiatives
• Demonstrated experience adhering to safety regulations (CDM) in operational settings
• Strong track record supervising site activities and coordinating multiple contractors simultaneously
• Familiarity with relevant electrical standards, regulations, and legislation
• Ability to adapt to dynamic conditions and execute on goals under tight deadlines
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with proven ability to interface effectively with contractors, suppliers, and client representatives
• CSCS card holder or equivalent certification
• Excellent Microsoft Office capabilities; SCADA and MODBUS experience is a plus
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Europe in support of existing and new energy storage projects
• Passion for renewable energy, strong communication skills, flexible and positive attitude, structured and dedicated work approach
• Fluent in English and Polish; additional languages are advantageous
