Project Manager (Utility BESS)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential renewable energy organization seeking a Project Manager to oversee utility-scale battery energy storage systems across Germany and the broader European market. In this role, you will:

• Manage project delivery and commissioning activities for energy storage installations, coordinating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and contractors
• Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans to support project implementation
• Negotiate and manage contracts with customers regarding project delivery terms and milestones
• Lead projects through to commercial operations and ensure smooth handover from construction to operations and maintenance teams
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all supplier and contractor activities
• Create and implement testing protocols aligned with market rules, distribution network operator requirements, and contractual commitments
• Produce regular project progress reports and maintain risk matrices for active projects

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualifications
• Proven experience managing project delivery and commissioning of electrical equipment within solar PV and/or battery energy storage projects, or other renewable energy installations
• Demonstrated experience adhering to safety regulations (CDM) in operational settings
• Strong track record supervising site activities across multiple contractors simultaneously
• Solid understanding of relevant electrical standards, regulations, and legislation
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and execute under tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to interface effectively with contractors, suppliers, and client representatives
• CSCS card or equivalent certification
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office; SCADA and MODBUS experience is a plus
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively in support of energy storage projects
• Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and structured working approach
• Fluency in both English and German required; additional languages are advantageous
