Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential telemedicine organization seeking a Staff Software Engineer to take ownership of their full-stack platform architecture and engineering practices. In this individual contributor role, you will shape the technical direction while remaining deeply hands-on in the codebase.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Owning the architecture of the full-stack platform across frontend, backend, data layer, and AWS infrastructure, evolving it iteratively under real product constraints
- Defining and maintaining the testing strategy, determining where to invest in unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage while keeping test suites fast and effective
- Advancing agentic coding practices through appropriate tooling, guardrails, and testing discipline that accelerate development without compromising production stability
- Collaborating with product teams to scope solutions effectively, identifying efficient paths and clearly communicating when proposed features lack sufficient value
- Ensuring shipped features are operable and auditable by design, meeting regulatory standards without creating engineering overhead
- Troubleshooting critical issues across the stack, from scaling bottlenecks to integration failures, implementing proper long-term solutions
What We're Looking For
Our client needs an experienced engineer with approximately 7+ years of professional software development experience working on production systems serving real users.
Required qualifications:
- Deep hands-on expertise across the full stack: strong frontend skills, comfortable in backend systems, and proficient with infrastructure and web technologies
- Strong TypeScript background with well-formed technical opinions you can articulate and defend
- Clear product focus with genuine concern for what ships, what runs reliably, and what users actually experience
- Fluent English (C1 level or equivalent)
Valuable additional experience:
- Work in start-up or scale-up environments balancing speed with quality
- Track record of taking ownership and establishing processes in undefined areas
- STEM degree or equivalent practical experience
- Exposure to regulated software, medical devices, or health data systems
- German language skills
If you match most of these criteria, we encourage you to apply rather than self-selecting out.
