About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential semiconductor organization seeking a Sr. Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their ML Acceleration Systems Software team in Bee Cave, Travis County. Our client designs cutting-edge silicon and software solutions that power cloud infrastructure at unprecedented scale.
This is an opportunity to work on custom accelerator architectures and embedded firmware that enable breakthrough performance for machine learning workloads. You'll collaborate with hardware and systems teams to bring novel chip designs from concept to production deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded firmware for ML acceleration hardware
- Develop low-level software drivers and initialization sequences for custom silicon
- Optimize firmware performance and power consumption for production systems
- Collaborate with hardware engineers during silicon bring-up and validation
- Debug complex hardware-software integration issues across the stack
- Create and maintain embedded software development tools and build systems
- Participate in architecture reviews for next-generation accelerator designs
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in embedded firmware development for complex hardware systems
- Expert-level C/C++ programming skills for resource-constrained environments
- Deep understanding of computer architecture, particularly accelerators or specialized processors
- Experience with silicon bring-up, hardware validation, and debugging tools
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems, bootloaders, and bare-metal programming
- Familiarity with hardware description concepts and RTL simulation environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Proven track record delivering production firmware for shipping products
