Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential healthcare consulting organization seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead health economic modelling projects. In this role, you will:

  • Build and program simulation-based cost-effectiveness analyses in R and Excel/VBA from scratch
  • Lead the implementation of health economic models independently, interpreting clinical and economic study results
  • Plan, program, and report on R-based and Excel-based cost-effectiveness simulation models
  • Develop client-ready deliverables including model conceptualization, analysis plans, sensitivity analyses, and technical reports
  • Evaluate studies to identify key drivers, assess data or methodological gaps, and propose solutions
  • Present progress and results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with a specialized team of health economists, statisticians, and researchers on global projects
  • Ensure timely delivery of project components while managing multiple workstreams

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Master's degree in health economics, statistics, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in a consulting environment serving biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare clients
  • Proven R programming skills with demonstrated experience programming cost-effectiveness simulation models in R
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming
  • Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and drug reimbursement processes
  • Applied knowledge of statistical methods in health economics, including parametric survival regression model extrapolation, network meta-analyses, and probabilistic sensitivity analyses
  • Proficiency with collaborative versioning software (git/GitHub)
  • Strong skills in preparing written documentation and presenting results using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent independent organizational and time management skills
  • Highly developed analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a diverse team

Helpful experience:

  • Experience with Python, C++, or other programming languages
  • Familiarity with hesim, shiny, or Rcpp R packages
  • Experience with Bayesian statistics and advanced modelling techniques
  • Knowledge of indirect treatment comparisons such as network meta-analysis, matching-adjusted indirect comparison, and simulated treatment comparison
