Business Strategist – UK

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential defense technology organization expanding its UK operations. We're seeking a Business Strategist to build market presence from the ground up in London. This role combines strategic business development with deep ecosystem navigation across the European defense sector.

You'll identify entry points into armed forces and defense institutions, build trusted relationships across complex stakeholder networks, and create pathways from initial operational engagement through pilot programs to signed contracts. Working closely with product and deployment teams, you'll translate technical capabilities into commercial traction within highly regulated B2G environments.

Responsibilities

• Build market presence by identifying the right units, partners, champions, and procurement pathways within the UK defense ecosystem
• Own the full journey from first engagement through experimentation, pilot programs, and contract execution
• Identify and shape strategic opportunities before formal procurement cycles begin, positioning solutions where operational needs emerge
• Navigate long, politically sensitive B2G sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, security clearances, RFIs, RFPs, and public procurement regulations
• Establish and maintain trusted relationships across armed forces, ministries, industrial partners, and government stakeholders
• Translate complex technical capabilities into language that resonates with procurement officers, general staffs, and program leadership
• Collaborate with product and forward deployed teams to convert field validation into commercial outcomes
• Work with a Europe-wide team to unlock strategic opportunities across defense organizations

What We're Looking For

Must-have qualifications:

• Proven experience selling into armed forces, ministries of defense, or highly regulated B2G markets with extended sales cycles
• Top-performing sales track record with clear evidence of personally closing two to three large-scale deals
• Comfortable building pipeline and market presence from near-zero, without established playbooks
• Technical curiosity with ability to understand complex software products and translate them into operational and commercial value
• Empathy for military users and their operational mission
• EU citizenship (contractual requirement tied to defense sector work)
• Fluency in English plus the local language of your coverage market

Nice to have:

• Existing relationships within defense ministries, armed forces, or NATO-adjacent institutions
• Prior experience at defense technology or dual-use startups
• Background in military service or related government roles

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process. The client offers competitive packages including base salary and equity positioned at the top tier of the European market.

This role is based in London with field travel to active deployment areas as needed. EU citizenship is a contractual requirement.
