About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data analytics organization in their search for a Field CTO based in the USA. This is the most senior technical role in the field organization—a position that combines deep architectural expertise, AI fluency, executive presence, and the ability to shape how enterprise buyers understand modern analytics platforms.

You will partner with Solution Architects and Solution Engineers on the most strategic enterprise opportunities, lead technical conversations with CTOs, CDOs, and CISOs, and serve as the technical voice that wins deals at the executive level. You'll also mentor the broader field team, influence product direction, and set the standard for how AI is used internally and positioned externally.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical narrative across the territory's most strategic accounts, partnering with SAs and SEs on complex deals
  • Lead executive-level architecture and AI strategy conversations with CTOs, CDOs, CISOs, and their senior technical teams
  • Run deep technical discovery and architecture workshops, stepping in to unblock the opportunities no one else can move
  • Design and build production-grade prototypes and custom data apps using HTML, JavaScript, and Python, including AI-driven workflows and warehouse integrations
  • Lead enterprise security architecture conversations covering PrivateLink, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, and governance models
  • Present the client's architecture and AI capabilities externally: analyst briefings, executive roundtables, conference stages, and CTO-to-CTO conversations
  • Own the technical position on complex RFPs, RFIs, AI risk reviews, and security questionnaires
  • Advise on integration, migration, governance, and AI patterns across Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, and Redshift
  • Set and defend the competitive position against other analytics and AI platforms, using architecture rather than marketing, and create reusable assets for the team
  • Build the SA and SE playbook: architecture patterns, AI-workflow playbooks, competitive teardowns, reference implementations, and repeatable technical-win processes
  • Package domain expertise into reusable industry assets across verticals like financial services, insurance, and gaming
  • Carry field intelligence directly to Product and Engineering leadership, influence the roadmap, and secure early feature access
  • Mentor SAs and SEs, raising the technical bar and accelerating onboarding for new hires
  • Manage several strategic enterprise engagements simultaneously across the territory
  • Hit quarterly and annual targets as set by leadership

What We're Looking For

  • 12+ years in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data platform roles, with at least 5 years in a customer-facing technical leadership role (SA, Field CTO, principal SE, or senior consulting)
  • Deep expertise in at least one cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift) and working fluency across the rest
  • Strong SQL and a deep command of modern data architecture: warehousing, modeling, governance, and security
  • Hands-on experience with ETL and transformation tooling like dbt, Fivetran, Matillion, or comparable platforms
  • Builder's depth: you write working code in HTML, JavaScript, and Python, building custom apps, plugins, and AI workflows end to end
  • Deep command of enterprise security and identity patterns: PrivateLink, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, and the governance decisions that ride on them
  • AI fluency at the leading edge: daily user of modern AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or equivalents) and credible voice on agents, context engineering, retrieval, evals, and major model providers
  • Track record of leading and closing complex enterprise sales cycles or large BI implementations
  • Executive presence: you hold a CTO and a data engineer in the same room, lead architecture reviews, boardroom briefings, and conference keynotes
  • Self-starter who operates well in a high-velocity environment with minimal hand-holding
  • Team-first mindset: you sharpen everyone around you, bring field intel back, build playbooks, and own the next hire's ramp
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 35%
